DIRAS Spices Required
DIRAS Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp, DIRAS Red Chilli Powder – 1/4 tsp
Ingredients
1/2 cup toor dal or moong dal
1.5 cups water
1 small onion, chopped
1 small tomato, chopped
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp ghee or oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander for garnish
Method
Wash dal 2–3 times. Pressure cook with water, salt and DIRAS Turmeric Powder for 3–4 whistles.
Let pressure release naturally and whisk the dal lightly.
Heat ghee in a small pan. Add cumin and garlic, cook for 30 seconds.
Add onion and cook for 2–3 minutes. Add tomato and cook for another 2 minutes.
Add DIRAS Red Chilli Powder and mix for 10 seconds on low flame.
Pour tadka over dal and simmer for 3–4 minutes.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with rice or roti.
Garnishing: Finish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
